The Pyrenees Shire Council is hailing the Pyrenees Futures project as a new approach to town planning by exploring the characteristics of the shire’s towns and using this as a basis to plan for healthy, prosperous futures.

Over 2017, township framework plans will be produced for Beaufort, Avoca, Snake Valley, Lexton, Waubra, Amphitheatre, Raglan, Moonambel and Landsborough.

The plans will lead to new planning policies to guide future growth and development, as well as urban design guidelines that focus on how town centres look, work and serve people.

Hansen is acutely aware of the varied challenges facing Beaufort, as the town needs to adapt and embrace its pending bypass as part of Western Highway duplication works. We also understand that the town is evolving from its established regional service centre role to the surrounding agricultural community to one which also acts as satellite suburb to greater Ballarat.  Pyrenees Futures will look at the opportunities for residential, commercial and industrial growth in Beaufort and the project team will also explore the urban design of the town centre.

Pyrenees Futures will explore the characteristics of Beaufort and use this as a basis to plan for healthy, prosperous futures. Council will be assisted in this task by Melbourne planning firm Hansen Partnership. Hansen has been appointed as project partner to help Council to develop a Township Framework Plan for Beaufort.
